Charlie R. Egan, 90, a resident of Ridgecrest Manor, Duffield, Va., formerly of Ft. Blackmore, Va., entered into rest Friday (Nov. 3, 2000) at Holston Valley Medical Center.
He was born on May 13, 1910 in Scott County, Va., and was the son of the late James H. and Sarah Taylor Egan.
He was a farmer and was of the Methodist faith.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Evie R. Egan; two daughters; one sister and three brothers.
Surviving are his daughter and son-in-law, Deloris Faye (George) Snipes, Midway, Tenn.; three sons and daughters-in-law, Ralph Edward (Juanita) Egan, Weber City, Va., Robert (Myrtle) Egan, Hilton, Ky., and Gene (Ida Mae) Egan, Chuckey, Tenn.; 12 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren and four step grandchildren; one brother and sister-in-law, Kinnely (Hattie) Egan, Kingsport; and several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours are from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Gate City Funeral Home.
Services will be conducted at 8 p.m. today in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with the Rev. George Willis and the Rev. Coy Butler officiating.
Music will be provided by the Midway Quartet.
Graveside services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Egan Cemetery, Midway community.
Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
The family will be meeting at the funeral home at 1 p.m. to go in procession to the graveside service.
