Robert "Clay" Blagg, a devoted brother, uncle and friend to many, died unexpectedly at his home Thursday, Aug. 26, 2010. He was 54. Clay was born Nov. 26, 1955, in Albany, Ga., to John D Blagg Jr. and Elizabeth J. Claitor. As an Air Force dependent, he lived in many exciting places, including England and Hawaii, where he graduated in 1974 from Radford High School. He attended the University of Hawaii at Hilo and graduated in political science from Wayne State College in Wayne, Neb. Clay was a wonderful man. He said what he felt, and his compassion for things that interested him was boundless. He will be missed by all who knew him. His passage will leave a hole behind him. We will all sadly feel the loss, which speaks volumes about his character, unique wit and the love that he had for life and for each of us. Clay is survived by his brothers, John Blagg and Michael Blagg; brother-in-law, Rick Peterson; a sister, Clare Peterson; and sister-in-law, Carmen Blagg. He is also survived by niece, Lacey Rochester; and nephews, Kyle Blagg and Daniel Rochester. A memorial will be held in Baton Rouge in November.
