Phyllis Marie Sowers, 72, of Goshen, died Tuesday morning, September 25, 2007, at her home after a two year illness.
She was born in Elkhart County on December 11, 1934, to Clifford R. and Leona R. (Miller) Welty. She married Russell Sowers, Jr., on February 6, 1973 in Goshen. He preceded her on November 1, 1990.
She retired from Johnson Controls in 1997 as an assembly line worker. She had also worked for Goshen Rubber, Goshen Moose and Goshen Cafeteria.
She was a member of the Goshen VFW Women's Auxiliary, the Elkhart Moose; and a past member of the Wawasee Country Club, Maxwelton Golf Course and the Penn Electric Union. She was an avid bowler.
She is survived by a daughter, Diane Perkins of South Charleston, West Virginia; a son, Robert Allen Reeves of Eugene, Oregon; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Margaret Troyer and Erma J. Baker, both of Goshen and Delores Harman of Union, Michigan.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Russell; a sister, Laurabelle Bliele and a brother, Gerald E. Welty.
Family and friends will meet at Violett Cemetery, Goshen, on Thursday, September 27, 2007, at 1:00 p.m. for a graveside service. Valerie Friedell will officiate.
