The Evening Star, (Washington, DC) 21 Nov 1863
Walter Williams, who resides near Poolesville, intending to get married a third time, came to Georgetown a few days ago and purchased a wedding cake, a barrel of white sugar, and a sundry nick-nacks, to refresh the wedding party. The articles were placed on a canal boat to be sent up to his residence. [John Singleton] Moseby’s gang, who were lounging about near the place of unloading, got a snuff of the delicacies, and the temptation being very great, they stopped the boat and took the bridegroom’s supplies, thus leaving the wedding party in an exceedingly destitute condition.
