She lived in Berrien Co GA in The New Lois Community where she attended school. She was a star basketball guard for the school team coached by Mrs. Maxie Patten. She received the Best Player Award which was most often given to a forward position.

She was a pretty, young, blonde when she married Charles Romie Cribb on Apr 8 1944 in Hamilton Co, FL. They lived in Berrien and Lowndes County before moving to Cook County in 1952. Her husband, Charles, was disabled for several years, and she went to work at Metal Products shortly after arriving in the county to help support the family.

She was not a quitter. While working full time at Metal Products, she received her GED, and she attended cosmetology school at a private school in Tifton. At that time, the hours counted rather than days. She attended class for two years when she had time off from her 40 hr week job...on saturdays and work vacation days. She received her state cosmetology license in 1969 and soon opened her shop known as Doris' Beauty Shop which is operated until she retired in 1999.
Charles and Doris had 2 dau-Judy and Roma Jo.

As a widow of 5 yrs, she married Paul Hiers in May 2000 in Cook, GA. They had no children.
