Crow Indian. Private, Indian Scouts, 7th US Infanty. Also known as Esh-sup-pee-me-shish.

Son of Little Face, born in Montana. Enlisted on 10 April 1876 at the Crow Agency, for six months with the 7th Infantry. Attached to 7th Cavalry for the 1876 campaign, and assigned to Major Reno's battalion. Assigned to the Custer attacking column on the afternoon of June 25. Withdrew from the column at 3:15 pm, June 25 (Custer was killed about 4:30 pm), and joined Strikes The Bear on the ridgetop and in the hilltop fight for a short time. Withdrew and made contact with Colonel John Gibbon's column and then returned to the Crow Agency. In later years, was a farmer. Cause of death was pulmonary tuberculosis and mitral insufficiency. Buried 11 Oct 1922. Survived by his wife, Strikes First.
