Mrs. Lucy Jones, wife of County Recorder James A. Jones, died at 2:30 o'clock yesterday afternoon at the family residence following a prolonged illness. Mrs. Jones, who was 50 years old, had been active in the social and political life and charity work of Springfield for many years. She was a director of the Children's home and her devotion to the little ones of that institution won for her the name of "Aunt Lucy."

Mrs. Jones was formerly Miss Lucy Wiggins, daughter of the late Col. Noble B. and Clarissa Wiggins. Colonel Wiggins was for many years owner of the old Leland hotel. The decedent had been ill for some time but her condition became more critical on Wednesday and her brothers, Lewis N. Wiggins, Northampton, Mass., and Horace L. Wiggins, Philadelphia, Pa., were summoned. They arrived yesterday morning.

Mrs. Jones is survived by her husband, James A. Jones, one son, James A. jr., and a daughter, Clarissa Leland Jones; also two brothers. She was a cousin of Jerome A. Leland. Nicholas R. Jones, general counsel for Straus & Company at New York, is en route to Springfield to attend the funeral. Funeral services will be held tomorrow afternoon at Christ Episcopal church.
