Mr. Gayle B. Burns, age 90, of Burns Road, Carrollton, passed away Sunday, May 28, 2006 at his residence. He was born May 13, 1916 in Carroll County, Georgia to the late Benjamin L. Burns and Bertha Foster Burns. Mr. Burns retired from Richards, Inc. having worked as a lumber grader and was a member of the Southern Congregation of Jehovah's Witness. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers, James B. Burns, Marvin L. Burns, Louis E. Burns, Maurice Foster Burns and Thomas Wayne Burns. Survivors include his wife, Alice Wood Burns; a sister and brother-in-law, Rebecca B. & Wallace W. Rhodes of Carrollton; two brothers and a sister-in-law, O.W. & Florence Burns of Thomaston, Georgia and H. Clay Burns of Carrollton; two sisters-in-law, Inez Burns of Draketown and Joyce Smith of Carrollton; a brother-in-law, J.D. Kidd of Jonesboro, Georgia; and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, May 30, 2006 at 11 AM from Martin & Hightower Heritage Chapel with Mr. John Bottoms officiating. Interment will follow in Carroll Memory Gardens.
