William, who resided at 1917 Gilpin Avenue, Wilmington, Delaware, served as a Aviation Machinist's Mate, Third Class and aerial gunner on the aircraft carrier U.S.S. Ticonderoga (CV-14) during World War II.

William died in the "Line Of Duty" when he was killed in the crash of two planes in the air near Kempsville, Virginia.

Son of Russell A. Funk and Mary J. Illingworth Funk.
