After landing on the beaches of Normandy he went on to fight in the Battle of the Bulge. During his tenure in the army, he was awarded several medals for meritorious service. Burnside; they lived in New Orleans while he finished his degree in business administration at Tulane, where he was recognized as one of the university's top students. The couple started their family in Jackson and later moved to Laurel. He began his law practice in Laurel where he was a partner in Gibbes, Graves, Mullins & Bullock. An award winning attorney, he was a member of the MS Bar Association, the MS Defense Lawyers Association, and served as president of the Mississippi Defense Lawyers Association. Mr. Bullock was very involved in his community and was a member of the Chamber of Commerce, the Lion's Club, as well as the Kiwanis Club where he served as president of the Laurel club. Mr. Bullock also preached at local churches in the community in his role as an ordained lay pastor. He was also active as a volunteer with the Salvation Army and the March of Dimes.
