Elizabeth "Joan" Shreffler, 81, of 167 East State Road, Seneca, went to be with the Lord at 12:45 a.m., Wednesday, Aug. 25, 2010, at the Golden LivingCenter in Shippenville.
Born July 24, 1929, in Oil City, she was a daughter of Carl Hastings and Edna Grace Winger Seyler.
Mrs. Shreffler attended the Oil City schools.
In her early years she worked at Isaly's and in her later years she devoted herself to her family and grandchildren.
Mrs. Shreffler was a member of the Oil City Church of the Nazarene since a young child. She served in many areas, including teaching children's Sunday school.
She enjoyed cooking, camping, playing games, knitting and sewing.
She was married Aug. 17, 1946, to Joseph Leo Shreffler, who survives. Also surviving are two children, Karen Price and her husband, Randy, of Harrisburg and Thomas Shreffler and his wife, Alinda, of Pittsburgh. She also is survived by six grandchildren, Nicole Campbell of North Carolina, Jayson Bailey of Pennsylvania, Adam Bailey of Texas and Jeffrey Price of Pennsylvania, Wendy Smith of Pennsylvania and Benjamin Shreffler of Pennsylvania; and three great grandchildren, Joenae, Ashlyn and Adalyn. Numerous nieces and nephews and several sisters-in-law also survive.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two infant sons, Joseph Allen Shreffler and Dennis Eugene Shreffler; three sisters, Dorothy Seyler McClure, Louise Seyler Rodgers and Beatrice Seyler Sallade; a brother, Robert E. Seyler Sr.; and an infant brother, Carl Seyler.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday at the Morrison Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday in the Oil City Church of the Nazarene with the Rev. William Hopkins, pastor, officiating. Interment will be in Grove Hill Cemetery.
