Major League Baseball Player, Manager. He was a star second baseman for the Philadelphia Athletics and the Chicago White Sox, playing from 1918 to 1939. mostly with the Philadelphia Athletics. He played in three World Series for the A's, and was named to the first two All-Star Games. After his playing career he managed the White Sox until 1946, and then replaced the legendary Connie Mack as the A's manager in 1951 after Mack retired, having led the A's for 50 years. Jimmy Dykes later managed the Baltimore Orioles, Cincinnati Reds, Detroit Tigers and the Cleveland Indians.
