HUGHES ~ Florence "Mary" Hughes passed away peacefully at the Lloydminster Hospital, Lloydminster, Saskatchewan on Wednesday, January 16, 2008 at the age of 87 years.
Mary will be sadly missed by her children: Jean Buha of Lloydminster, Jim Hughes of Lloydminster, Marilyn and Ron Ryall of Edmonton, Glenda Hughes of Rivercourse; six grandchildren and three great grandchildren as well as numerous other relatives.
Mary is predeceased by her husband Patrick Hughes; her parents; two sisters: Merle Jones and Edna Mayo and great granddaughter Cameron Meagan Cissell.
The Celebration Of Life was conducted from the Church of Christ, Lloydminster, Alberta on Tuesday, January 22, 2008 with Lee Patmore officiating.
A eulogy was given by nephew Elwyn Jones.
Honorary pallbearers were all those who shared in mom's life.
Active pallbearers were grandchildren: Craig Cissell, Adrian Buha, Adele Zenko, Kimberly Johnson and nephews: Drayson Jones, Maurice Freehill, Pete Scriber and Greg Gibbs.
Interment was held at the Lloydminster City Cemetery.
McCaw Funeral Service Ltd., of Lloydminster, Alberta administered the funeral arrangements.
Card of Thanks
The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and hospital staff for all the care they gave Mom. A special thank you is extended to the staff at the Pioneer Lodge, the Home Care Nurses and the staff at the Dr. Cooke Extended Care facility. Heartfelt thanks for the personal, compassionate handling of the 'Celebration of Life' service by Lee Patmore, Minister and Jonathan Gibbs, soloist and song leader.
Special thank you to Elwyn Jones for delivering such a memorable eulogy portraying Mom's life in capsule form touching on her childhood, teaching career, teaching career, married and family life through her retirement years.
A special thank you to the grandchildren and nephews who honored Mom by acting as pallbearers.
We are grateful to Glenn McCaw and staff for their caring and professional assistance. Thanks to the ladies for preparing and serving the delicious lunch and also to our friends, relatives and co-workers who sent cards, flowers, phone calls, e-mails, visits and food. Thanks to those who sent donations to many charities in Mom's memory.
