Born November 22, 1770 in Hempstead, Nassau County, New York and died November 22, 1850 in New York City, NY, Reverend Menzies Rayner was an early minister of the Universalist Church in Hartford, Connecticut. He began his career as a minister in the Methodist Church. Some of his writings on religion and sermons are still in print today. He was married to Rebecca Bontecou and they were the parents of twelve children.
