She and her parents lived near Bloomington until she was seven, and then moved to Mercer township. Adams county, Iowa. When she was 14 the family moved to the home which she occupied at the time of her death. From the time she was 14 until her marriage eight years later, she taught school in Coming, Nodaway, and the rural schools of Adams county. She began her teaching career at the Sullivan school and was teaching at the time of her marriage at Creston. She followed with great interest the development of her pupils to manhood and womanhood and many today say with great pride. "She was my school teacher."
On April 30. 1887 she was united to Frederick Albert Kennon of Corning. He passed away February 2, 1910. Mrs. Kennon's mind was alert to her last days. She was a prolific reader and kept herself informed in current events. She witnessed with active interest the growth of her community from pioneer days with its increasing population, its growth in religion and culture.
She was interested in people, though in recent years, she was confined to her home, she had no complaints to make and those who came to bring her comfort and friendly
Mrs. Kennon was a helpful and active member of the Federated Church for many years.
She leaves to mourn her loss, one daughter Edith. and three sons, Fred, Frank and Ralph: a host of intimate friends and neighbors.
Funeral services were held at the Boyd Roland Funeral Home of Corning, Iowa. September 19. 1949. by her pastor. Rev. Lawrence E. Murphy. assisted by Rev. T. B. Turner. Interment was made in the Walnut. Grove cemetery, of Corning, Iowa
