Jeremy Logan Glick

United Flight 93 Passenger, Hero. A national collegiate judo champion while at the University of Rochester, he was a sales and marketing executive for an internet company, Vividence. He and his wife Lyzbeth were married in 1996 and were the parents of a daughter, Emerson, born in June of 2001. On September 11, 2001 he was aboard United Flight 93 when the plane was hijacked by terrorists believed to be heading toward a crash target in Washington, D.C. Using an airplane phone he called his wife and they talked for more than twenty minutes. According to Lyz Glick, "We said ‘I love you' one thousand times over and over again and it just brought so much peace to us." When he and some other passengers decided to try to overtake the terrorists Glick told his wife, "Stay on the line. I'll be back." Some time later Mrs. Glick listened to cockpit tapes that the FBI made available to the families. The tapes seem to suggest that the passengers charged the cockpit single file behind a food cart that was used as a shield and battering ram. While going through her husband's belongings, Mrs. Glick found a quote from Ralph Waldo Emerson, for whom their daughter was named. It said in part, "To know that even one life has breathed easier because you have lived, this is to have succeeded."
