September 11th Terrorist Attack Victim. He was a passenger on United Airlines Flight 93 that was taken over by Al-Qaeda terrorists on September 11, 2001, and was one of the passengers who gained widespread acclaim for his part in thwarting the plane being flown into a target in Washington, DC. A high school athlete in baseball, basketball and soccer, he attended Fresno State University and Wheaton College. He earned a master's degree in business administration from DePaul University. In 1994 he moved to Princeton, New Jersey and began his career as an account manager with the Oracle Corporation. He and his wife Lisa, married in 1994, were active in their church and taught Sunday school class. In 2000 they moved to Cranbury, New Jersey. On September 11, 2001, Beamer was on his way to a business meeting in California when the flight was hijacked by terrorists, presumably intent on crashing into a target in Washington, D.C. Using an on-board phone, he called telephone operator Lisa Jefferson who informed him of the other hijackings. During their approximately thirteen-minute conversation, Beamer told the operator that he and some of the other passengers were going to try to overtake the terrorists. He asked her to pray with him and they recited the 23rd Psalm. After making the operator promise to call his pregnant wife and their two sons, David and Andrew, Beamer dropped the phone, leaving the line open. The last words the operator heard were, "Let's roll." The plane then crashed at 10:03 AM in a field near Shanksville, Pennsylvania, far from what is believe it’s intended target. His remains eventually recovered, and were buried in Brainerd Cemetery, Cranbury, Middlesex County, New Jersey. His name can be found on Panel S-68 of the National September 11 Memorial in Manhattan, New York City, New York, and on the Flight 93 National Memorial in Shanksville, Somerset County, Pennsylvania.
