Funeral service for Jerry William Adcock, 76, of Tyler is scheduled for 10 a.m. Thursday Sept. 2, 2010, at Burks Walker Tippit chapel with the Rev. Keith Brown officiating.

Burial will follow in Cathedral in the Pines Cemetery.

Mr. Adcock passed away on Monday, Aug. 30, 2010, in Tyler.

He was born July 12, 1934, in Hamilton to the late Tilman and Lucille William Adcock.

He had lived in Tyler since 1958 and was a member of Fair Park Baptist Church. Jerry was a retired mechanic for Smith County Road and Bridge department.

He served his country while in the United States Army.

Mr. Adcock's survivors include his wife of 54 years, Wanda Grandy Adcock of Tyler; sons, Terry Adcock of Flint, Arlon Adcock of Dallas, and Charlie Adcock and wife Amber of Flint; daughters, Brenda Shelton and husband Preston of Flat; Carol Barker and husband Mark of Bullard; brother, Bill Adcock and wife Frances of Evant; sister, Martha Ross of Leander; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Pallbearers will be Mark Jackson, Mark Barker, Preston Shelton, Chance Shelton, Terry Adcock and Charlie Adcock.

Visitation will be from 6 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 1, 2010, at the funeral home.
