KEWANEE, Ill. -- Services for Lawrence F. "Buster" Bessant, of Toulon Health Care Center, formerly of Kewanee and Geneseo, will be 10 a.m. Monday at Vandemore Funeral Home Ltd., Atkinson. Visitation is one hour before the service. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Geneseo. Mr. Bessant died Thursday, March 14, 2002, at the center. He was employed 14 years as a mechanic at Ford garage dealerships in Atkinson, Annawan and Kewanee. He was born June 6, 1918, in Atkinson. He married Edith Shultz in 1948. She died in 1965. He later married Elizabeth Hass. She died in 1996. Memorials may be made to Lawrence Bessant Memorial Fund. Survivors include daughter, Lorranine Wancket, Annawan; son, Richard Piester, Bonita Springs, Fla.; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a great-great-granddaughter.
