Wife of: John Thaddeus Persons
Born: 17 Aug 1851 Upson Co., GA
Died: 13 Oct 1891 Marion Co., GA (Burial Location UNK)

Daughter of:
James Lafayette Pickard and Ann Hasseltine "Hess" Judson Ross. James and Hess are buried in the Pickard/Geiger Cemetery in Upson Co., GA. that is located on the site of the previously owed plantation of James Lafayette Pickard and inherited by Hess upon his death in 1863. James died in Savannah during the Civil War. Also buried there is the 2nd husband of Hess, Augustus "Gus" Geiger, who was the overseer of the Pickard plantation prior to both he and James Lafayette Pickard serving in the same unit during the war. Upon his return from the war he again became the overseer and married Hess. The Pickard family became most distraught over this marriage and the treatment by Gus Geiger of the children of Hess and James Pickard so the children were removed and sent to live with relatives where they were loved, educated and safe. Gus Grigger was a widower with children. Each of the Pickard children lived out their lives happy, well educated, well established and raising their own families. The graves of James Lafayette Pickard and Gus Geiger are supposedly marked as serving in the CSA but the grave of Hess is one of those that is sunken and not marked. There are several other sunken unmarked graves in the cemetery. Could they be those of Micajah Pickard and wife Sarah Barksdale-Pickard? The cemetery is very over grown and appears will be lost to time in the years to come.
