William M. Diamond, 65, of Sweetbriar Drive died Monday at his residence.

Mr. Diamond was born in Akron, Ohio, and raised on Lake Huron in Huron, Ohio. He lived in Clifton Park for the past 26 years.

He received bachelor's, master's and doctoral degrees from Ohio State University.

He was an associate marketing professor at the University at Albany for 26 years and a former faculty member at the University of Vermont and the University of Detroit.

Mr. Diamond founded the Regional Advancement Service at UAlbany, which provided export assistance to Capital Region companies. He helped found the Albany chapter of the World Trade Council and was an international marketing consultant for Capital Region businesses.

He worked for the U.S. Department of State in Somalia from 1990 until his evacuation due to civil war. He helped provide management education for Somalis.

Mr. Diamond wrote more than 15 articles and reports and contributed to ''The Handbook of Modern Marketing.''

Mr. Diamond was a member of the Clifton Park Center Baptist Church and an Army veteran of the Korean War. He enjoyed sailing.

Survivors include his wife, Patricia Bachman Diamond; two daughters...; a sister, Ruth Chesrown of Huron; and two granddaughters.

A service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in the Clifton Park Center Baptist Church.

Calling hours will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in the Gordon C. Emerick Funeral Home, 1550 Route 9.

His body will be cremated and his remains buried in the Saratoga National Veterans Cemetery, scheduled to be built in 1998.
