Joanne McClellan Wade, 80, of Fortson, GA died Friday, July 23, 2010 at Columbus Hospice House.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 27, 2010 with Reverend Gene Boyd and Reverend Bob Hawkins officiating. A private interment will be held at Parkhill Cemetery.

Mrs. Wade was born October 20, 1929 in Columbus, GA daughter of the late Franklin Bowden McClellan and Madelle Bird McClellan. She retired after 33 years working in the Traffic Department for Southern Bell Telephone Company. She helped start and operate Growing Room Child Development Center for ten years from the beginning in 1989, which is owned and operated by her daughter and son-in-law, Sheree and Pat Mitchell. She was a member of the Telephone Pioneers and the Eastern Star. Mrs. Wade was a member of First Baptist Church of Phenix City, AL for 76 years.

Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William "Bill" A. Wade and her sister, Patsy McClellan Harrison.

Survivors include her daughter, Sheree W. and son-in-law Pat Mitchell of Fortson, GA, son, William Franklin "Tommy" Wade of Hanover, PA, sisters, Betty M. and husband Henry Greer of Columbus, GA, Camille M. and husband Jim Dunaway of Pensacola, FL and Cecille M. and husband James McMullen of Columbus, GA, grandchildren, Brad and wife Brittany Haines of Columbus, GA, Corbin Wade of Hanover, PA and Dalton Wade of Hanover, PA, great grandchildren, Joshua Haines, Maddie Haines, and Will Haines all of Columbus, GA.
