Death came to Mrs Kate Eckel, 71, wife of William Eckel about 2;30 at her home south of Douglass after a long illness.
Kate Friend, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Friend of Butler county was born east of ElDorado, August 29, 1872.
She was educated in ElDorado and clerked in the old Racket Store there.

She was married to William Eckel January 10, 1900 . They made their home most of their married life near Douglass .
Preceding her in death were a half brother Lee Temple Friend, a half sister Florence E. Friend and sisters Belle (Mrs. William G. Sandifer), and Rebecca (Mrs. Sam Hannah). Surviving Mrs. Eckel are her husband: one son, John Friend Eckel of LaFayette, Ind. : two daughters, Mrs. Julia Taylor of
Douglass and Alice Hadwiger of Alva, Okla.; three sisters, Miss Alice Friend, Gertude (Mrs. Ray Foster and Carrie ( Mrs. H.A. Dwire) all of
ElDorado. Also six grandchildren, Martha Kate Taylor, Julia Ann Taylor, Mary Alice Taylor, William Eckel, Karl Eckel and
William Hadwiger.

Funeral services will be held at the Douglass Methodist church Friday at 2:30, conducted by Rev.C. E. King and Rev. W. H. Johnson. Burial will be in the Douglass cemetery. Hilyard Funeral Home is in charge.
