Jason Michael, son of Michael Joseph and Billie May (Vaughn) Bauer was born on May 27, 1979 in Omaha, Nebraska. He grew up in Omaha and enjoyed spending many summers with his family in Manilla. He loved hunting and fishing and working on trucks with his friends. Jason attended Westside High School in Omaha and graduated in 1997. He was then selected for the Apprenticeship Program for the Ironworkers Union. After four years in the program he became a journeyman in the United Brotherhood of Ironworkers Local 21. There Jason was proud to work on many projects including the First National Bank Tower in Omaha, the Omaha Zoo, and the Kearney, Nebraska Archway. Jason recently worked with the Stagehand Union as a rigger. He also used his skills at home while building his own motorcycle.

On February 14, 2007, Jason was united in marriage with Carrie Ann Cullinane in Omaha. Jason was a devoted husband and father who loved to spend time with his family and would do anything for his kids. He had a great sense of humor and a contagious smile. Jason was always willing to help anyone in need.

On August 23, 2010 Jason was injured while doing what he loved the most, working on a construction project in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. On August 27th he passed away at Sanford Hospital at the age of 31 years and 3 months.
Jason was preceded in death by his grandparents Don Bauer and Aaron and Anni (Neuschäffer) Vaughn and his cousins Billie Underwood Brink and Josh Underwood.

He is survived by his wife Carrie Bauer and children Richie, Anni and Emilie Bauer and unborn twins all of Omaha; parents Mike and Billie Bauer of Manilla; siblings Erin and husband Richard Whitfield of Dunedin, Florida and Jesse Bauer of Omaha; grandmother Joan Bauer of Manilla; father-in-law Bert and wife Joan Cullinane of Omaha; mother-in-law Christine Cullinane of Omaha; brothers and sister-in-law: Bert Cullinane Jr., Lindsey Bladt and Gregory Cullinane; nieces and nephews: Lillian Cullinane, Jayden Bladt, Varik Whitfield and Jhetta Bradshaw; many aunts, uncles, cousins, friends and union brothers.

A worker from Omaha who was injured in a fall at a construction site in South Dakota has died.
Michael Bauer says his 31-year-old son, Jason, died early Friday.

Police say Bauer's safety line was attached to a steel beam that was among several that gave way at a site in Sioux Falls on Monday afternoon. Bauer fell and was taken to a local hospital.
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration is still investigating.
