William "Bill" Strum, 72, a longtime Superior resident died Saturday Aug 28, 2010, in his residence. He was born in Bemidji, MN, April 16, 1938, to Edwin and Gladys Strum. Bill graduated from Superior Central High School in 1956.

He was a member of the Wisconsin National Guard. Bill married Betty Thompson on Aug 13, 1960. Bill had been a proud Partner in Central Sheet Metal. He was a member of Pilgrim Lutheran Church, and the Superior Curling Club.

Bill had been a member of World Curling Championship Teams in 1965, 1974 and 1978 and had represented the U S at the Olympics in 1988 and 1992 winning a bronze medal. He loved to golf and spending time with his grandchildren

Bill was preceded in death by his parents.

Bill is survived by his wife of 50 years, Betty; sons, Michael and David (Cheryl) of Superior; a daughter, Cathy (Pat) Berthiaume of Superior; sister, Susan (Hal) Wold of Sun City Center, FL; and grandchildren, Caitlyn Fields, and James, Cassandra and Matthew Strum; and several nieces and nephews.

Honorary pallbearers will be Bud Somerville, Tom martinson, Tom Locken, Harry Byrnes, Al Gagne, Hal Wold, Paul Arnovich and Bob Nichols.
