MR. J.C. FOWLER DIES SUDDENLY OF HEART DISEASE
Mr. John Charles Fowler, of Sewaren, died very suddenly Monday evening about 9 o'clock. Mr. Fowler, who has been connected with the Barber Asphalt Paving Company of Maurer, was on his way to the factory in answer to a telephone call that there was a fire in the plant.
Before working here, he constructed asphalt roads on Mexico and Cuba.
Mr. Fowler came to the the Barber plant in 1904 and left in 1911 to start up contracting business in Perth Amboy. In 1917 he returned to the Barber Asphalt Co. and was in charge of the erecting and refining department.
He was a member of the Township Committee and at one time was a member of the Board of Education.
Mr. Fowler dropped suddenly in the street and when the physician, Dr. John L. Lund, arrived it was discovered, after an examination, that he had died of heart disease.
He is survived by his widow, Caroline; four daughters and a son, John C. Fowler, Jr., who has recently returned from France, and Mrs. Samuel C. Williams, Misses Teresa, Carrie and Helen Fowler, and one grand-child, of Sewaren.
The funeral arrangements have been completed by the family.
