B. E. Tutton was born in Lawrence County, Missippi. He married in 1890, in Simpson County, Mississippi. The Tuttons made their home there until moving to Center, Texas, in 1916.

After his marriage, Mr. Tutton spent 3 years in Braxton High School and then became a Baptist preacher. After spending much of his own income to help support the churches that he served, he returned to his old trade as a blacksmith, in Center, Texas.

Survivors included his wife, 6 children, and 6 grandchildren. The surviving children were Mergia (Mrs. Oscar) Miller, Walter and Ivey, all of Center; Arney of Houston; Silas in the U.S. Army in California; and Bessie (Mrs. Carl) Nelson of Shreveport, Louisiana. Two other children died young.
