Frank Meadors died Monday, April 5, 2010 following a brief illness. He was born to
Thelma Meadors and Ralph Leslie Bolen in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma on July 11, 1940.
He attended Edgemere Elementary School and graduated from Casady School in 1958.
He continued his education at Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois earning a
Bachelor of Science and a Masters of Science in Industrial Engineering. He was a
member of the Dean's List and Alpha Pi Mu, the honorary engineering fraternity as well
as a member of Phi Gamma Delta social fraternity where he served as president. While
at Northwestern he served as the treasurer of the senior class, was the intramural golf
champion, and was named one of ten "Outstanding Seniors" on campus. He served as
a member of the Northwestern University Alumni Admissions Council until his death. In
1963, Frank married Barbara Thompson of Glen Ellyn, Illinois. They returned to
Oklahoma City and Frank joined his father in the family automotive businesses, Bolen
Oldsmobile and Bolen Imports. Frank gained national recognition as one of the top
Mercedes-Benz dealers in America in both sales and customer satisfaction and was
honored by Time Magazine with their Quality Dealer Award. Frank had served as the
chairman of the Mercedes-Benz National Dealer Council, as a commissioner of the
Oklahoma Motor Vehicle Commission, and as the president of the Oklahoma City
Automotive Dealers Association. He was a member of the American Institute of
Industrial Engineering, the Institute of Industrial Engineers and the Society for
Engineering and Management Systems. Frank had a passion for golf and was a former
director of the Oklahoma City Golf and Country Club where he had served as vice president.
Frank was an active member of All Souls' Episcopal Church, he had served
on the Vestry, as the chairman of Outreach , as a confirmation class instructor, and as
an adult education instructor teaching about church history. Frank enjoyed volunteering
to assist with the landscape and gardening at All Souls' and was often seen there during
his spare time. He had served as a convention delegate for the Episcopal Diocese of
Oklahoma. He was a founder and board member of the Christian Leadership
Foundation of Oklahoma City and was a volunteer mentor at Garden Oaks School. In
the wake of the Murrah Federal Building bombing, Frank served as a volunteer in
search and rescue, as a member of the Resource Coordination Committee and
assisted the Oklahoma City Fire Department in their efforts. Frank enjoyed helping
others in his community, a quality instilled in him by his parents. He was a devoted
husband and father and a compassionate citizen. He was preceded in death by his
parents and his cousin Lessie Westerfulhaus Wills. He is survived by his wife, Barbara;
daughters, Pam Davis of Cabot, Arkansas and Leslie Evans of Woodbridge, Virginia;
grandchildren, Michael, Tanner and Ty Davis and Ashley and Mollie Evans; his brother
and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Don Bolen (Fanny); niece, BeBe MacKellar; nephew, Nelson Bolen; nephew, Todd Holmes; Cousins; Leslie Hawkins and Chris Bolen; sister in-law and brother-in-law, Mr.and Mrs. Steve Dunlap (Pam); and cousin-in-law, Sam Wills. A memorial service will be held Thursday, April 8th at 3:00p.m. at All Souls' Episcopal Church.
