At 9:30 Wednesday evening, Mrs. Thomas E. Wood, one of the best women in this section, breathed her last and the spirit returned to the God who gave it. An aged husband and five children, John W. Wood, of Garrard, Mrs. B. G. Fox, of Danville, Geo. T. Wood, of this county, Mrs. J. C. Lynn, of this city, and Chief of Police Logan W. Wood, of Danville, are left to mourn the loss of a loving wife and Godly mother and in their irreparable loss they have the sympathy of friends everywhere. Mrs. Wood was 62 years old and had been a member of the Baptist church for many long years. In her palmy days she was a splendid church worker, but 24 years ago she suffered a stroke of paralysis and since then she had not had good use of her left side and was compelled to set aside her active duties in church and at home. Later she suffered another stroke and the third and fatal one came about a week ago. Deceased was a daughter of Mr. John and "Aunt Nancy" Pope, of Boyle county, and she was a kind hearted, charitable woman. Those who knew her well say a better woman never lived and that to know her was indeed to love her. There scarcely ever lived a more affectionate couple than Mr. and Mrs. Wood and now that his life companion, the true wife in prosperity and adversity, has gone hence, the splendid old gentleman is crushed by the blow, which we fear will materially shorten his days. May the good Lord give him abundant strength to bear the blow he has received. The remains were taken to Danville Wednesday afternoon and at 2 o'clock yesterday afternoon funeral services were held at the home of Mr. B. G. Fox by Rev. O. M. Huey. The burial followed in Bellevue cemetery
