This is my "Pearl" Story about her and I love sharing it! It is also absolutely true!
In January of 2002, my Mother(Velma) and her siblings decided to take their Mother(Helen) on a cruise. At age 87, she had never been on one and had always wanted to go. So, my Grandma from Kansas packed her things for the trip, and went to her jewelry box to decide what to take. She decided to take a pearl necklace that her eldest son had given to her. She carefully wrapped it in a tissue and put it in her purse. They drove the long trip to Florida, and stayed the eve of the cruise in a motel. The next morning, they were getting ready to leave the motel and my Grandma decided to refresh her kleenex supply in her purse with new ones. She threw away all the old tissues in her purse, into the trashcan of the motel room, not even thinking. A couple of days later, on the ship, she decided she wanted to wear the necklace and went to get it out. It wasn't there. She turned out everything in her purse, but nothing. Of course, she was very upset that she had thrown away her pearls. After the cruise, they returned to the motel to see if anyone had found them, but no one had. She searched her jewelry box and house when she arrived back home, but nothing. The pearls were gone. On April 20, 2002, my Mother passed away suddenly. My Grandma was getting ready for the trip to St. Louis for her funeral and was packing once again. She opened her jewelry box to find something to wear, and there, laying in the box, where they hadn't been before, were her pearls. My Grandma believed to her dying day in 2005 that her daughter had brought her pearls back to her. I think she did too. My Grandma loved Jesus with all her heart, all of her life. I can't wait to see them again!
(I want to add in here, that my Mom's sister was with my Grandma when she searched her house and jewelry box when arriving back home. It wasn't just Grandma who looked. ;-)
