Ruby Frey, 89, formerly of Coffeyville, died Saturday evening (March 25, 2000) at Labette County Medical Center, Parsons.
Mrs. Frey was born Aug. 23, 1910, near Edna, to Thomas Franklin and Emma Lee (Houston) Kirkland. She attended Star School, near Edna.
She married Loy Peter Frey on July 15, 1934, at Independence, the couple moved to a farm west of Coffeyville, and retired in 1962. They returned to Coffeyville in 1968. Mrs. Frey worked at sewing and quilting. She was employed 14 years as a nurses aide at Medicalodges Nursing Home. She retired in 1978. Mr. Frey preceded his wife in death in 1988.
Survivors include two brothers, Merlin Kirkland of Edna, and Herbert Kirkland of Collinsville, Okla. She was preceded in death by an infant son, and by six brothers.
Services are 10 a.m. Thursday at Ford-Wulf-Bruns Edgewood Chapel. Burial is at Fairview Cemetery, both of Coffeyville.
Friends may call until 9 p.m. Wednesday at Edgewood chapel. Family visitation is from 7 until 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, and from 9 a.m. until service time Thursday.
