Edward W. Bowers, 79, of Lancaster, entered into rest after a lengthy illness on Thursday, February 18, 2010 at Hospice of Lancaster County.
Born January 30, 1931 in Lancaster, he was a son of the late Franklin C. and Anna (Conlin) Bowers. He will be lovingly missed by his wife of 60 years, Virginia H. (Koehler) Bowers of Lancaster.
Mr. Bowers was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Leola. He was a former member at St. Stephen's Lutheran Church for over 50 years, where he was on the church council and an usher. He retired after 43 years of service as a supervisor for Armstrong in the Corlon Division. Ed loved to cook, and he enjoyed small game hunting and fishing.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Bowers is survived by his daughter: Sandra J. Bowers of Lancaster; two sons: Dennis P., husband of Pamela S. (Young) Bowers of Lancaster and Larry E., husband of Koleen (Kirchner) Bowers of Lititz; three brothers: Robert J., Gerald H., and Ronald J. Bowers; a sister: Patricia A. Dimitris; 7 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Ed is also preceded in death by two brothers, C. Franklin and Richard J. Bowers, and a sister, Margaret "Sis" Fitzkee.
