From the Belleville News Democrat, 09 Jul 1918, "Word reached this city Tuesday morning that Henry Damm Sr., an old resident of this city died Monday morning at 10 a.m. at the Alton State Hospital. Deceased was 83 years and 10 days old. His wife preceded him in death thirty-seven years ago having succumbed Jan 4, 1881.
One daughter, Mrs. Phillip Geminn and a son Henry Damm Jr., a step daughter, Mrs. George Lehmann and twelve grandchildren survive.
The funeral will be held from the home of Phillip Geminn 1321 North Church Street, at 1:30 o'clock Wednesday afternoon to the Walnut Hill Cemetery. Rev. Pessel of St. Paul's church will officiate."
