He was born in Wythe County on January 17, 1874 to the late William Franklin Rosenbaum and Mary Ann Slemp. He was one of nine children:

*Nancy Catherine (Akers), 1864-1916
*John Stephen, 1865-1894
*James Alexander, 1866-1943 (owned a shoe shop)
*William Thomas, 1867-1955
*Joseph D., 1870-1870 (died of hives)
*Charles Albert, 1871-1954 (always did the wallpapering in his parents' home)
*Clementine Hannah "Clem" (Cregger), 1872-1945 (born Hannah Delida Clementine; married Isaac Newton Denton (1872-1909) on Jul. 3, 1894; as a widow then married Alexander Cregger (1879-1952) in 1928 in McDowell, WV.
*Lucy Columbia (Dodson), 1877-1945

After his mother died in 1883, his father married Sarah Percival Gray on Sept. 18, 1884 and had two children:

Ellis Emory, 1885-1916
Sophia M. (Hale), 1886-1979

In 1874, Mr. Ab was listed as a carpenter and merchant of dry goods in Speedwell, VA. He moved to Cripple Creek where he ran a general store located several hundred yards from his house and closed on Sundays.

He married Sarah Ann Davidson (Miss Annie) on April 6, 1898. The marriage was conducted by Rev. D.S. Fox, Lutheran pastor at Cripple Creek. They had three children.

Mr. Ab was a fine highly regarded and respected gentleman in his church and community. He never did brag about his success, always church going and leader in the Lutheran church.

On April 6, 1948, Mr. Ab and Miss Annie celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. Sadly, he suffered a heart attack and died in the Pulaski Hospital on August 14, 1948.
