Note: Birth Year: William Post (49807639) on 4 Dec 2020 - Birth year of Desire Martin Carpenter (findagrave memorial 57866285):
"I suggest changing Desire's birth year [from 1684] to 1685.
The Mayflower birth/death records give "20 Mar 1684/5". ( Vol 1, pg 109)
Her brother Robert was born 9 Sep 1683. If their mother Mercy was pregnant again 4 weeks after his birth, then on 20 Mar 1684 Desire would have been born at most with only 22 weeks gestation. That was very rarely survivable in those days. So it is much more likely that she was born in 1685 due to that reason.
There is then plenty of time before Desire's younger brother Francis was born on 7 May 1686.
Thanks for considering this.
Bill Post"

"9 MERCY 3 BILLINGTON (Francis 2, John 1)
probably the unnamed daughter of Francis and Christian Billington, b. Plymouth
25 Feb. 1651/2; d. Rehoboth 28 Sept. 1718.
She m. Rehoboth 27 June 1681 JOHN MARTIN, bp. Ottery St. Mary, Devonshire,
England 20 Jan. 1652/3; d. Rehoboth 28 Aug. 1720; son of Richard and Elizabeth
(Salter) Martin. He m. (2) Rehoboth 28 May 1719 Abigail Read who d. there April
1721.
[p. 17:]
John Martin came to Rehoboth from England between 1660 and 1664 with his
father, Richard. John inherited from his father the homestead and other
property in Rehoboth and continued to reside there. During King Philip's War in
1676 John paid his father's tax and was himself a soldier in that conflict from
Rehoboth. In 1740 his son, John Martin of Rehoboth, was awarded bounty land for
his father's service.
John Martin, son of Richard, was always of Rehoboth, never of Swansea.
On 1 Aug. 1707 John and Mercy Martin of Rehoboth and her sisters Elizabeth
Patte, Dorcas May and Mary Sabin conveyed "for love" to their niece Desire
Billington, daughter of their brother Isaac, their rights to the Middleboro land
of their father Francis Billington, deceased.
The inventory of the estate of John Martin Sr. of Rehoboth was take 6 Sept.
1720, presented by John Martin, eldest son, who was appointed administrator of
the estate 4 March 1722/3.
In a deed dated 29 July 1725, acknowledged 11 March 1733/4, recorded 16
Oct. 1761 [sic], John Martin [son] of Rehoboth, taylor, sold the home lot of his
father John Martin dec., to Jotham Carpenter, husband of his sister Desire.
Children (MARTIN) b. Rehoboth:
27 i JOHN 4 b. 10 June 1682
ii ROBERT b. 9 Sept. 1683; d. 16 Sept. 1705
iii DESIRE b. 20 March 1684/5
iv FRANCIS b. 7 May 1686; incompetent, being cared for by the family
in 1725."

NOTE: The Izabel that it says is unknown, is widow Isabel Sherman of the elder Jotham Carpenter--consider the settlement of the estate of Jotham Carpenter (son of Benjamin and Renew Weeks Carpenter) occurred 3 days after the appointment of the younger Jotham Carpenter as her guardian. It makes perfect sense that the more immediate task was to make sure the widow of the father was taken care of. Property can wait. [FAG contributor K.E.L.]

Descendant of Mayflower Passengers John Billington & family.

Famous Descendants of Mayflower Passengers
There are millions of Mayflower descendants living today, but very few
descendants actually know it. Eight U.S. presidents are known to be descended
from Mayflower passengers, and a number of other famous people including
astronauts, poets, politicians, actors and actresses, directors, inventors and
others are descendants as well. Below are a list of the most famous individuals
I know about that have Mayflower ancestries. Their blood lineage back to the
Mayflower passenger is included (in red). Many of these lineages were
originally published by Gary Boyd Roberts of the New England Historic and
Genealogical Society, who regularly publishes new discoveries and article on his
Notable Kin website.
