Johanna married John C King on 21 Nov 1876, soon after he arrived from Ireland. He was employed as a papermaker in Bellows Falls. Johanna and John are the parents of three daughters and a son. Following the births of Ellen Josephine "Nellie" and Mary Agnes "Mae", Johanna and John had a daughter, Anna M, who died at the age of 9 months from cholera infanticum. The following year their son, James Henry, was born. Johanna died two months later of what was deemed to be malarial fever.
Her widower would have the help of Johanna's sister, Maggie, in raising the children.
