He was born September 13, 1918 in Alexander, IL to William F. and Margaret Johnson Ludwig. He married his wife Lucy Hardwick in 1943 and she preceded him in death in 2004. He was also preceded in death by his parents, six brothers Earl, Bernard, Leo, Frank, Clarence "Bill" and Charles Ludwig, and 1 great-grandson, Paul Ludwig, Jr.
Paul was a member of Christ the King Parish and was a proud member of the United Auto Workers. He was an avid Cardinals fan. He retired from Fiat- Allis after 35 years as a machinist.
He is survived by one daughter Joyce E. Sonntag of Glenarm, IL; two sons William P.(Darla) Ludwig of Bridgeton NJ, and Thomas M. Ludwig of Jerome, IL; a sister Dorothy (Dick) Roesch of Springfield; 6 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandson; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
A visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Monday August 30, 2010, at Staab Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 10am Tuesday August 31, 2010 at Staab Funeral Home with Msgr. David S. Lantz officiating. Burial will be held at St. Mary's Cemetery in New Berlin.
Family requests memorial contributions be made to St. Joseph's Home in Springfield IL.
