He was born Dec. 8, 1940, in Lackrone, Pa., coming to Lorain in 1953.

He was a master mechanic at Joyce Buick in the late 1960s. He was the owner and operator of Dave's Auto Towing in Sheffield Village.

He formerly attended Faith United Methodist Church, Lorain. He was a member of the Sheffield Village Fraternal Order of Police Auxiliary.

He formerly enjoyed racing cars, and he enjoyed working on cars and going to casinos.

Survivors include his son, David E. Clark Jr. of Lorain; daughters, Lynn Nims of Massachusetts, Sandra Bennett of New York and Amy Clark of Lorain; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; brothers, Donald R. Clark of Staten Island, N.Y., James B. Clark of Amherst, John T. Clark, Charles W. Clark and Kenneth H. Clark, all of Lorain, Richard A. Clark of Perrysburg and Dale E. Clark of Lorain; sisters, Esther J. Sakowski and Linda L. Calvert, both of Lorain, and Phyllis E. Dunn of Amherst; and caregiver, Jan G. Hvizd. He was preceded in death by his wife of 35 years, Penny Ann (nee Zimmerman) Clark, in 1999; daughters, Patricia Rose Clark, in 1980, and Melani Amanda Clark, in 1992; parents, Harry, in 1990, and Ruth Shirley (nee Moore) Clark, in 1988.

Friends may call Sunday, 4 to 8 p.m., at Walter A. Frey Funeral Home, 700 W. Erie Ave., Lorain 44052. Funeral services will be Monday at noon in the funeral home. The Rev. Edward Luca, retired priest of St. Teresa Church, Sheffield Village, will officiate. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery, Lorain.
