Eunice Johannah Bayless, 86, passed away on Thursday, August 19, 2010 in Roseville California at the Roseville Sutter Medical Center. A resident of Eagle, Idaho, she had recently moved to Marysville, CA to live with her daughter. Eunice was born on September 30, 1923 in Lotts Creek, Iowa to Ralph and Beda Priebe. The family had a farm in Ledyard, Iowa and that is where she spent her younger years. During high school she enjoyed playing on the girl's basketball team. She had fond memories of the year her team advanced to the state level. She graduated in 1941 and worked in Des Moines, Iowa prior to heading to Los Angles, CA. She worked in a bakery and a war plant. During World War II she worked on assembling P38 fighter planes. In 1943, she met her husband, Dave Bayless a sailor in the Navy. They were married 62 years. As a couple they ran a dairy farm in Meridian, Idaho for over 40 years. Eunice was responsible for the daily operations of the dairy farm, while Dave was employed full time with the State of Idaho. They successfully raised and sold several herds. Eunice especially enjoyed working with and caring for all farm livestock/animals; and tending to a large garden. She was an avid collector. Two of her favorite things to collect were plates and souvenir spoons. Her favorite place to visit was the Oregon coast. Two of their most memorable trips were a week long white water trip on the Salmon River and a cruise to Alaska and the Yukon. She is survived by her three children, daughter, Cheryl (Richard) Nyquist of Denair, CA, daughter, Marcia (Bob) Bagley of Marysville, CA, son, Gordon (Deborah) Bayless of Boise, ID; 8 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren; sister, Lyla Lloyd of Ledyard, Iowa and Ruth Gieser of Burnsville, MN. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, brothers, Gordon and Lyle and sister, Laurnetta.
