Nettie I. Bennett, 84, of 4645 Harwood Rd., Ionia died Thursday morning at the Ionia County Memorial Hospital, where she had been a patient the past two weeks.

She was born in Odessa Township, Ionia County, September 15, 1894, the daughter of Levi and Ellen (McKowan) Goodenough.

She attended rural school at Carr and Coon schools and was a member of Berlin Center United Methodist Church and North Berlin Aid Society.

On December 21, 1910 she married George Bennett in LeValley Church and they have made their home in Berlin Township since. They celebrated their 68th wedding anniversary last December.

Survivors include her husband, George; one son, Carl; three grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Leddick Funeral Home. Rev. Dr. Lloyd Walker of Berlin Center United Methodist Church will officiate. Committal service will be at the funeral home with later interment in Balcom Cemetery.

A memorial fund has been established for the American Cancer Society. The family will be at the funeral home Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Friday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. to receive friiends and relatives.

Honorary bearers were Carl, Jr. Stephen, Mark, Thomas, Robert Bennett and Dale Wandel.
