Data from the Gibbs family bible indicates that Alanson Gibbs was born January 8, 1805 and he died March 4, 1885.
He was married October 14, 1830 to Sophrona Main, daughter of Joseph and Jane (Blanchard) Main. Sophrona was born April 20, 1808 and died March 22, 1895.
Alanson and Sophrona Gibbs were the parents of seven children: Eustatia, Alanson Dwight, Benjamin Sears, David M., Parker Thomas, Mercy and Ami Smith Gibbs.
Ami S. Gibbs was married March 20, 1873 to Mila Jane Bacon, daughter of Henry and Polly (Lawton) Bacon and they were the parents of Rena Isora Gibbs (born January 25, 1876 died October 14, 1877). Rena is also buried at Blood's Point.
Son of Benjamin Gibbs and Mary Sears.

Alanson Gibbs brought his family to DeKalb County, Illinois from Otsego Co., New York in 1845, settling in northeast Franklin (about 2 miles southeast of Blood's Point) on Myelle Road.

Alanson's older brother, Willard Gibbs was married to his wife's older sister, Patience Main and they also resided on Myelle road in the far northeast corner of Franklin.

There is mention of the Alanson Gibbs family in biographies of his son, David Gibbs in biographical histories of DeKalb Co., Illinois published in 1885 and 1898.
