Frances S. Almeling, 94, St. Charles, formerly of Augusta, died Sunday, March 10, 2002, at Primacy Health Care and Rahabilitation, Memphis, Tenn.

She was born December 4, 1907, at Augusta, the daughter of Edward Knoernschild and wife Anna, nee Fuhr.

Mrs. Almeling was a member of Ebenezer United Church of Christ, Augusta, and was active in the Women's Fellowship.

She worked in retail.

Mrs. Almeling was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Edward Knoernschild, Rheinhold Knoernschild, Fred Knoernschild and Otto Knoernschild; and three sisters, Frieda Ashton, Helen Hellwig and Ella Schlottach.

She is survived by one daughter, Barbara Martin, Cordova, Tenn.; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, March 13, at Ebenezer United Church of Christ, Augusta.

Interment was in Augusta City Cemetery.
