"Bela T. St. John, 87, died suddenly Friday afternoon at the home of his daughter, Mrs. H. W. Brown, route 3 Oregon City (Carus). His death was due to heart trouble.
"Mr. St. John was born in Cayuga county, N. Y., July 22, 1843, and had made his home in Clackamas county for the past 23 years. He is survived by four children, T. E. St. John, American Falls, Idaho; Burton St. John, Berkeley, Calif.; Mrs. J. R. Washburn, Oakdale, Calif.; Mrs. H. W. Brown, Carus.
"Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Carus church. Rev. Henry Spiess, pastor, officiated. Mrs. R. J. Hughes sang 'City Four Square' and 'Jesus Savior Pilot Pilot Me.' Her accompanist was Mrs. Charles Casto of Clackamas. The services were well attended.
"Interment was in the Zion cemetery, Canby. Pallbearers were J. L. Kline, G. R. Gwillim, George Bliss, William Daniels, Hugh Parry and R. F. Davis."
