Son of William and Ann (Harris) Foxwell of Mullion, Cornwall, England. Emigrated to Wisconsin in about 1840. Called "The Cornish Pioneer." Married a young schoolteacher, Lucy Philena Briggs in Caledonia, Racine, WI on Sept. 13, 1841 and farmed in Racine County the rest of his life. He was also a lay preacher in the Bible Christian church and a founder of Yorkville Church.
