First Lieutenant, Medical Corps. Son of James Rosser and Mary C Bedford; wife Adelia Bedford. Entered service at Iowa, February 2, 1918; to Fort Des Moines; to Fort Riley, KS, MOTC, March 28, 1918; to Camp Zachary Taylor, KY, June 28, 1918; to Camp Henry Knox, KY, February 1, 1919; to Camp Taylor, KY, February 10, 1919; received three silver cheverons; in service 18 months; honorably discharged August 1, 1919; promoted to Captain August 12, 1919; became a Captain in the Medical Reserve Corps.

DR. BEDFORD, ONEIDA, DIES AT OMAHA; RITES TO BE ON WEDNESDAY
Dr. Richard James Bedford, 83, who practiced as a country doctor for 54 years in Oneida and Knox County, died Saturday evening at 9:05 o'clock in the Veterans Hospital at Omaha, Neb.
Dr. Bedford was born Jan. 23, 1870, in Kendall county near Minooka. When he was a young boy the family moved to Chicago where he was graduated from Rush Medical College as a physician, surgeon and pharmacist. In 1897 he interned at Cook County Hospital and in 1898 located at Dahinda.
August 6, 1902, Miss Anna Adelia Sargent of Dahinda and Dr. Bedford were united in marriage. Dr. and Mrs. Bedford celebrated their golden wedding anniversary last year.
During World War I Dr. Bedford enlisted and served as a captain in the medical corps. Following this tour of duty the family moved to Oneida where he practiced as a country doctor.
He was a member of the First Universalist Church in Galesburg, was affiliated with the Masonic fraternity, served as past worshipful master of the Masons, past patron of the Order of Eastern Star, was a member of the American Legion, and the Knox County Medical Association and was active in Oneida civic affairs.
Survivors are his wife, three daughters, Mrs. H.E. Haydon, of Omaha, Neb., Mrs. E.C. Doak of Macomb, and Mrs. H.C. Hauswald of Galesburg; two sisters, Mrs. M.A. Stitt, Verona, and Mrs. W.S. Furlong, Warrenton, Va.; six grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. One sister, Mrs. L.L. Pinsman, preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be conducted in the Oneida Presbyterian Church Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock. There will be Masonic services at the church. Military rites by the American Legion will be held at the Oneida Cemetery where burial will take place.
Friends may call at the Hendricks Funeral Home in Oneida tonight.

Funeral services for Dr. R.J. Bedford, who died last Saturday at Omaha, Neb., were held at 2 o'clock Wednesday afternoon at the Oneida Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Ernest Richards in charge.
There were Masonic services conducted by Lodge 337, A.F. and A.M. with Eliott Stackhouse as master. There were military rites at the graveside in Oneida Cemetery conducted by the Rylander-Milroy Post 737 of the American Legion.
Mrs. Murtitz Hodges and Reid Carson sang accompanied by Mrs. Carson.
Pallbearers were Ralph Hagberg, Howard Anderson, James Dougan, J. Donald Roe, Mauritz Hodges and John H. Anderson Jr.
