Funeral services for the Rev. O.J. Givens, 88, of 518 Lawman Av., Bridgeport, who died at his residence after a lengthy illness were held at the Davis and Weaver Funeral Home in Clarksburg. Burial was in the Salem IOOF Cemetery. He was born in Jackson County, Dec. 25, 1883, son of the late Oliver and Martha Holden Givens, was minister and president of the Gospel Tabernacle of W.Va., and had been active in the ministry until the last three years of his life.

He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Myrtle Morehead Givens; three sons, Thurman and Eldon, both of Bridgeport and Raymond of Salem; three daughters, Mrs. Virginia Bernard of Bridgeport, Miss Dale Givens of Carefree, Ariz., and Mrs. Mary Alice Cox of Salem; 16 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and the following nieces and nephews of this area; Mrs. Pearle Righter of Vienna, Roy Givens of Vienna, Victor and Harry Givens, both of Parkersburg and Carl Givens of Palestine.
