Memorial services will be 3:00 p.m. Monday in the Reed Funeral Home, Sullivan. Visitation will be 2:00 p.m. until service time. Burial will be in the Greenhill Cemetery, Sullivan. Memorials are suggested to the American Diabetes Association or to donors' favorite charity.
Ruth was born May 8, 1915 in West Allis, Wisconsin, the daughter of Charles and Ada Ormsby Moritz. She had been a teacher for the Effingham schools and a secretary/receptionist for the Best Clinic in Sullivan. Ruth had been a member of the Sullivan First United Methodist Church, an active member of the Sullivan Country Club, the Alpha Phi Sorority at De Pauw University and attended the Methodist Church in Marco Island, Florida. She had been a cub scout den mother, a girl scout leader, was active with the Methodist Youth Fellowship and was a founder and publisher of the Kaskia Magazine. She married Dr. P. H. Best, M.D. on June 28, 1941 in Effingham and he preceded her in death on March 13, 1996.
Surviving are her son, Phillip (Sueann) Best of Libertyville, IL; daughter, Pamela (Roger) Landers of Nisswa, MN; granddaughter, Tina (Dan) Gilbert of Mundelein, IL and grandson, Doug (Amy) Best of Swansea, IL.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister, brother and twin brothers.
