Michael E. Tumonis, 91, a lifelong resident of Brockton, died August 26, 2010. He began his 36-year banking career as a clerk at the Brockton Savings Bank, rose to Vice President, and went on to become President of Whitman Savings Bank. He was an active member and former president of the Kiwanis Club, an avid golfer, and a lover of good food. A devout Catholic, he was a lifelong communicant of St. Casimirs Church, where he served on the Financial Committee. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, was a 1937 graduate of Brockton High School, and with his late wife was head of the schools reunion committee for over 60 years. He graduated from Brown Universitys Graduate School of Savings Banking in 1966. Michael was the husband of the late Florence A. (Kamandulis) Tumonis; loving father of Anne Odgers and her husband Chris of Claremont, CA, Elaine Tumonis and her husband Edward De La Rosa of Los Angeles, CA and Janice Tumonis of Somerville; grandfather of Geoffrey Odgers, Gabriel Tumonis De La Rosa and Michael Tumonis De La Rosa; brother of the late Frances Wallent, brother-in-law of Elaine Mazgelis and her husband Vincent of Brockton; uncle of Joan Wallent of Sunland, CA, Mary Iselin of NH, Clement Mazgelis of CT, Christopher Mazgelis of Marstons Mills, and Elaine Mazgelis of Melrose; and close companion of Liette Fregeau.
