Al was a tall, handsome man with a quick wit and a penchant for alcohol. He worked a 113 acre farm two miles west of Holland, Bell county, TX and was a member of the Masonic Lodge his entire life. Sometime after 1932 Al left the family and disappeared. Nobody knew where he was for a long time. He eventually contacted his boys, he was living in Corvallis, Benton Co., OR, working in a lumber mill. After their service in WWII his sons visited him in Oregon and fell in love with the state and chose to live there, too.
He was survived by sons; Robert Shannon and wife, Elmina; Al Shannon and wife Frieda; Charles E. Shannon; 3 grandchildren.
