Mrs. Ruth Elizabeth Kerns, of Chicago, formerly of Springfield, died yessterday at her residence in Chicago, after an illness of several years. She was 85 years old.
Mrs. Kerns was born Aug. 6, 1864. She resided in Springfield until seven years ago when she moved to Chicago. She was a member of the Methodist church.
Mrs. Kerns is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Ruth Viola Pearson, Chicago; one son, Edmund Kerns, Toledo, O., and two sisters, Mrs. Della Waggoner, Hollywood, Calif., and Mrs. Blanche Blake, Decatur.
Remains will arrive in Springfield tomorrow and will be received by the Vancil funeral home.
